FlyingPal is run by VVS Inc., in Quebec, Canada. This page says what we keep about you, why, who else handles it, and how to have it removed. The short version: we keep what is needed to track your flights, we do not sell it, and we do not show ads.

What we store

  • Your account. The email address, and name if provided, that Apple or Google give us when you sign in. With Sign in with Apple you can choose a private relay address instead. We never see your Apple or Google password.
  • Your flights. The flight numbers and dates you track, any note you add, and whether it is your flight or one you are watching.
  • Your settings. Which alerts you want, and a secret token for your calendar feed.
  • Push notifications. If you turn them on, the address your browser gives us for delivering them. It is issued by your browser's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla) and identifies a device, not a person.
  • Links you create. Share links and Live Activity links, which stop working a day after the flight lands.
  • Your subscription. Whether you have Plus, and the subscription and customer identifiers our payment processor gives us. We never receive your card details.

Some flight details are shared between everyone tracking the same flight, without saying who they are: a departure time typed off a boarding pass, or the airports entered for a flight our route data does not know. Your notes and your list of flights are only visible to you, and to people you send a share link to.

On your device we keep your sign-in session and, if you chose to be remembered, your email address, in the browser's local storage. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we use it

To run the service you asked for: follow your flights, send the alerts you turned on, show your logbook, and know whether you have Plus. We do not sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it to build a profile of you.

Who else handles it

  • Convex (United States): our database and server code.
  • Vercel (United States): hosts the website.
  • Apple and Google: sign-in, and push delivery to your device.
  • Polar: sells the Plus subscription as merchant of record and handles payment, tax and receipts.
  • Anthropic: only if you use paste import, the text you paste is sent to find the flights in it. We do not store it.

Flight data comes from public sources: route data from Virtual Radar Server, aircraft positions from adsb.lol, and US airport status from the FAA. We ask them about flight numbers and airports only; no personal information is sent to them.

Because our providers are in the United States, your information is stored and processed outside Quebec. We use providers that protect it to a standard comparable to Quebec law.

How long we keep it

Your account and flights stay until you delete them or ask us to. The history of changes to a flight (delays, departures, alerts sent) is deleted automatically after 45 days. Your logbook keeps the flights themselves, because that is what it is for.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything linked to it. Email hello@myflyingpal.com from the address on your account and we will answer within 30 days. Removing a flight from your list removes it from your account straight away.

The person in charge of protecting personal information at VVS Inc. is its president, reachable at hello@myflyingpal.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Changes

If we start handling your information differently, for example by adding an analytics service, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
